About Us

KWANG has been building hands-on fit-out experience in Indonesia for nearly 20 years, since relocating from Korea in 2007.

What Is a Fit-Out?

The term ‘fit-out’ comes from fitting equipment and furniture into an empty building shell to match its intended use, and finishing that work out — completely. ‘Fit’ means customizing a space for its real business purpose, the way clothing is fitted to a body — an office, a café, a clinic. ‘Out’ means carrying that work through to completion, so the space is immediately ready for business or operation.

It’s a different concept from ‘interior design.’ Where interior design is closer to decorative work — wallpaper, lighting, and other elements that shape how a space looks — a fit-out is broader and more hands-on: starting from a bare shell-and-core space of concrete floors and columns, and building out everything needed to make the space actually function — flooring, ceilings, HVAC, electrical and data wiring, partition walls, and custom furniture.

In commercial real estate, the term also extends to the ‘fit-out period’ — the time before a tenant moves in, during which interior construction takes place. Since the tenant can’t operate a business during this period, landlords often waive rent for it, a practice known in the industry as ‘giving fit-out (FO).’

This is exactly what KWANG does. From retail interiors to office and factory furniture to specialized facilities — our role covers everything it takes to turn an empty space into one that’s ready to operate.
